eIDAS & online ID
The Univerx Channel is designed for identification with the German online ID card and for eIDAS signatures – inside the running contact, with no app to download for the Channel. It is prepared for the EUDI wallet.
At a glance
- Designed for
The platform is built toward the requirement. Evidence such as an attestation does not exist yet – we name it as soon as it does.
- On request
The documents exist. You receive them for your review through the contact form.
- Available
Met and evidenced. We assign this level only once the evidence exists.

#Identity in customer contact
Many requests stall not on content but on identity. Anyone who wants to change an address, sign a contract or file an application has to show who they are. Today that often means an ID photocopy, a selfie video or a letter with a PIN.
The Univerx Channel is designed to settle this inside the running contact. A link opens the Channel, the customer identifies with the online ID card, signs, and the result goes back into the case.

#The German online ID card
Electronic proof of identity is governed by § 18 of the German Identity Card Act. Besides the national ID card, the eID card for EU citizens and the electronic residence permit carry the same function.
To identify, the smartphone reads the chip via NFC and the person confirms with their PIN. Germany has notified the online ID card under eIDAS at assurance level “high”.
#Assurance levels and signatures
For electronic identification, eIDAS defines three assurance levels: low, substantial and high (Art. 8). For signatures, the regulation distinguishes three tiers.
| Signature | What it does | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Simple electronic signature | Data attached to a declaration, such as a name | Confirmations without formal requirements |
| Advanced electronic signature (Art. 26) | Uniquely linked to the signatory, changes are detectable | Contracts without a statutory written form |
| Qualified electronic signature (Art. 25(2)) | Equivalent to a handwritten signature | Declarations that legally require written form |
The combination your process needs depends on the business and the law, not on the technology. The Univerx Channel is designed for eIDAS signatures. Which tiers and which trust service provider are available for your use, we settle in the project.
#From link to signed
- Invite. The agent sends a link into the running contact.
- Identify. The customer proves identity with the online ID card.
- Clarify. Both see the same form, with video if wanted.
- Sign. The signature happens inside the Channel.
- Close. Result and record go into the case.
Only what the case needs is stored: the identification result, the signed document and the record. Everything else follows your GDPR retention and deletion policy. The use case Identification & online closing describes the whole flow.
#The EUDI wallet as an outlook
With Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 the EU extended the eIDAS framework. At its core is the European Digital Identity Wallet: people carry identity and credentials on their phone and share only what a service needs.
Every member state has to provide such a wallet. The Univerx Channel is prepared to add wallets as a further method. We will plan concrete uses once wallets are on the market.

Frequently asked questions
Can customers identify with the online ID card today?
The Univerx Channel is designed for it. We discuss the status for your use case in the demo and make no commitment until it holds.
Which signature do we need?
That depends on the transaction. A simple or advanced signature is enough for many declarations. Where the law requires written form, only a qualified electronic signature replaces a handwritten one.
Do customers have to install an app?
Not for the Univerx Channel: a link from chat, email or SMS is enough. For the online ID card they usually need an NFC-capable smartphone and an ID app.
What is the EUDI wallet?
A digital wallet under Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 that lets people present their identity and credentials anywhere in the EU. The Univerx Channel is prepared for it; we plan concrete uses once wallets are available.

In a demo we show the platform along your channels and requests, from AI agents to video, workforce scheduling and analytics.
